Pretty Knotty: Proud Member of The Milspo Project
Did you know that 90% of military spouses are underemployed? Ick. That's scary number.
This data is according to a recent study conducted by the Department of Defense (DoD) Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC). You can read the full report here.

Pretty Knotty is proud to help address this is as a member of The Milspo Project - a national non-profit organization aimed at helping military spouse entrepreneurs successfully launch and grow their businesses. Milspo members meet up at least once a month to hold each other accountable for their monthly business goals, share advice, and participate in online training programs to improve managerial and operational performance.
Through this program, Pretty Knotty also became
involved in Inc. Magazine's Military Entrepreneurs Program which is open to active duty members of the military, veterans, and spouses. As part of this program, I was invited to attend Inc's GROWCO Conference in Las Vegas last spring. During this event I met and spoke with Norm Brodsky - Founder of CitiStorage and Inc Columnist, Jay Jay French - Founder of Twisted Sister and Inc. Columnist, Blake Mycoskie - Founder of TOMS Shoes, Jessica Matthews - Founder and CEO of Uncharted Play, and many more successful entrepreneurs.
As a military spouse owned business, Pretty Knotty is proud to be a member of both The Milspo Project and Inc's Military Entrepreneur Program. In fact, I'm The Milspo Chapter Leader in Newport, RI, so please let me know if any of you are interested in coming to our next meeting. We welcome military spouses from any branch, local community partners, and fellow entrepreneurs who are interested in coaching or mentoring.
By working together, we can help make a positive impact on the results of the next DoD DMDC study of military spouse employment survey by increasing levels of education and experience through entrepreneurship. #YASplease
