You Buy Your Hair Ties Where!? Results from the 2016 Hair Tie Survey

When we first started designing our FIT TIES, we didn't want to assume that you needed and wanted all of the same things that we do - higher quality hair ties that don't damage your hair, stay in while working out, and last longer than 'the pharmacy/grocery store' options. So this past fall, we partnered up with five students from Salve Regina University through their Center for Business Outreach to get a better understanding of your needs and wants.

Pretty Knotty 2016 Hair Tie Survey Results Infographic

There were 45 survey respondents who were mostly college-age young adults - some athletes and some not.

Most of the high-level survey results, which can be found in the infographic to the right, were on point with our assumptions. The vast majority of those surveyed use hair ties when working out.

When shopping for hair ties, the two most important characteristics being considered are the comfort and quality of products available.

Most of the respondents purchase hair ties every few months - which means most people buy a new pack 4+ times a year.

And lastly, and most interestingly, the majority of those surveyed purchase new hair ties from the pharmacy. We understand. Really... we do. We used to purchase hair ties from the pharmacy too.

Do you buy sports bras from the pharmacy? How about gym socks? Sneakers? No?

At Pretty Knotty, we consider the hair accessories you use when training and competing to be as important as all of your other gear. If your hair is not comfortable and secure, you can't focus and perform to the best of your abilities. Hopefully in the future you'll be able to purchase our products at stores located conveniently near you - but for now, you can purchase our hair ties on our website very soon. We'll have a countdown posted shortly.

Until then, we want to give a shout out to the students and staff at Salve Regina University. Thank you for all of your hard work!
